Located on the banks of the C\u00e1vado River, near the city of Braga, Pa\u00e7o de Palmeira is a monumental estate with rich historical significance. Originally designed as the residence of the Archbishop of Braga, the property boasts one of the most stunning architectural landmarks in the Minho region. The estate\u2019s history as a wine-producing property dates back several centuries, with vineyards planted on the surrounding lands long before the establishment of the Vinho Verde Denomination of Origin (DOC) in 1908. In fact, Pa\u00e7o de Palmeira was one of the first areas where the Loureiro grape was planted, and it continues to be a stronghold for this native Portuguese variety.<\/p>\n

The estate covers 19 hectares of vineyards, planted on fertile soils and benefiting from a temperate microclimate influenced by the river\u2019s proximity. Pa\u00e7o de Palmeira\u2019s Loureiro wines are some of the most expressive in the region, known for their fresh, floral aromas and vibrant citrus notes. The variety excels in this terroir, producing wines of remarkable complexity, concentration, and a strong sense of place. Loureiro from this estate is particularly valued for its potential for aging, revealing even more depth and elegance over time. Pa\u00e7o de Palmeira is not only an essential producer of Loureiro but also an important historical site that highlights the region\u2019s long winemaking tradition.
